The Mystery Babylon Revisited series continues with a deep dive into Osiris and Isis, building directly from Bill Cooper’s original Mystery Babylon lectures and expanding the material with additional historical context and modern analysis. In this episode, we explore the Osirian Mystery tradition and the mythology surrounding Osiris, Isis, and Horus—one of the most influential religious narratives of ancient Egypt. We break down the story of Osiris’s death, dismemberment, resurrection, and Isis’s search for his remains, examining how Cooper interpreted these elements as symbolic components of the ancient Mystery School tradition.
We then examine the deeper symbolism Cooper associated with the Osirian cycle: the sun, moon, resurrection, death and rebirth, the obelisk, the hidden doctrine, and the initiate. Cooper argued that Osiris was not simply a literal Egyptian deity but a symbolic representation of hidden wisdom and the tradition allegedly preserved by successive generations of initiates.
The episode also explores the relationship between Osiris and Isis, including Cooper’s discussion of Osiris as the “doctrine” and Isis as the institutional or receptive counterpart of that doctrine. From there, we examine the broader concept of the Mystery Schools—their alleged origins, initiation practices, priesthoods, sacred knowledge, and the recurring death-and-rebirth symbolism found throughout later esoteric traditions. As the episode progresses, we connect Egyptian mythology with the larger thesis of Mystery Babylon, examining how Cooper believed ancient mystery traditions survived by being transformed and transmitted through later religious, philosophical, and secret-society traditions.Topics covered include:

What was the Osirian Mystery really teaching? Why do death, resurrection, illumination, and initiation appear repeatedly throughout esoteric traditions? And how did Cooper believe the ancient Egyptian mysteries fit into the larger story of Mystery Babylon? We break it all down.
