Charles Starkweather, nineteen, and Caril Ann Fugate, fourteen, became the center of a national panic after eleven people were killed across Nebraska and Wyoming. The episode follows the murders, the manhunt, the trials, Starkweather’s execution, Fugate’s imprisonment, and the long debate over whether she was an accomplice, a captive, or a child the justice system failed to understand.
