Apple CEO John Ternus; Should Humans Talk to Animals?

Apple Inc. is about to start the biggest run of device releases in its history, delivering a wave of fresh form factors and whole new product areas in 2026, 2027 and beyond. New Chief Executive Officer John Ternus will unveil the latest iPhones and Apple Watches at the company’s Sept. 9 “Surprise and Shine” event, which will be the beginning of the device releases. The company has been working on this pipeline for the past half-decade, and Ternus has touted plans for a dawning era of innovation, with many products in development for the coming years.

Also this weekend, researchers believe that advances in AI and biologgers could enable humans to communicate with animals, but there are concerns that this technology could be used to harm animals or disrupt their social environments. The use of playback experiments, which involve broadcasting recorded animal calls to another animal, is a controversial technique that raises ethical concerns and may cause stress or disrupt the animals' social environment.
