Acts 10:1-23 - Join In What God Is Doing

Pastor Tyler Anderson teaches from Acts 10:1–23, using Kodak’s failure to embrace digital photography as an example of how assumptions can prevent people and churches from joining what God is doing. He explains that God was already working in Cornelius—a devout Gentile “God-fearer” who prayed and gave generously—before Peter arrived, sending an angelic vision to direct him to call for Peter. Meanwhile, God prepared Peter through a rooftop vision of clean and unclean animals, challenging Peter’s resistance and long-held Jewish traditions about purity and Gentiles. Pastor Tyler emphasizes four lessons: God is already working before we arrive, God often changes us before changing others, God’s plans are bigger than our traditions, and God’s kingdom grows through ordinary people repeatedly saying yes, as seen when Peter welcomes Gentile messengers and goes with them.
