Ramree Island - The Deadliest Crocodile Attack in History

In February 1945, close to a thousand Japanese soldiers were driven into a mangrove swamp on Ramree Island, off the coast of Burma. Almost none came out. The legend says saltwater crocodiles devoured them by the hundreds — a slaughter so infamous it landed in the record books as the worst animal attack in human history.

But is that what really happened?
