The Nursery Where the First Copy Slept

Luna stands in the nursery, her fingers dissolving as she reaches for the still baby with her face. The mirror-child whispers that she was the first to wake and was never meant to. Luna pulls back her hand and the dissolution stops. She notices the baby's chest rising and falling, realizes it is alive. The mirror-child leads her to a phonograph needle poised over a blank record, tells her every copy has a master. Luna must choose: stay and be erased, or cut the master and silence the station forever. The walls pulse with her mother's heartbeat. The needle lowers itself. The record begins to cut.
