Stop Chasing Outcomes: Why Presence Builds the Strongest Foundation | DIVO-Ted Talks2 Sept9 min

You can pour your heart into something and still not control who sees it, who stays, or what happens next.

At some point, the work becomes less about managing the outcome...

and more about loving how you show up.

———————

Quote from the Episode:

"Idealism is living in the future. Realism is living in the past. Actualism is living in the present."

———————

DESCRIPTION:

What happens when you stop measuring your work by the outcome and start paying attention to the experience of doing it?

In this episode, Nicholas reflects on social media algorithms, business growth, teaching, and the pressure to make everything perform. Some content reaches thousands. Some barely moves. Some people come into your life or your studio for a season, and others stay. The challenge begins when we decide those outcomes must mean something about our value.

Through the lens of yoga, Ayurveda, dispassion, and self-awareness, Nicholas explores the difference between building toward a future and living mentally inside of it. The foundation still has to be laid. The work still has to be done. And the people, lessons, and opportunities that belong in each stage have to arrive in their own time.

This conversation is an invitation back to actualism—to what is really here, right now. You can still dream big. You can still build something meaningful. But freedom begins when your worth and your peace no longer depend on forcing the next result.

———————

A Map of Wisdom:

Here are some of the places we go together in this talk:

✦ Why outcomes are rarely as controllable as we imagine

✦ Doing meaningful work for the love of the work itself

✦ The difference between passion and attachment

✦ Building a foundation before reaching for the next level

✦ Idealism, realism, and the practice of actualism

✦ Why people leaving does not automatically mean something about you

✦ The suffering created by assigning meaning too quickly

✦ Learning to stay fully engaged with what is here now

———————

MARKERS ON THE PATH:

Markers on the Path can be added once timestamps are available.

———————

SOMETHING TO SIT WITH:

Where are you allowing an outcome you cannot control to determine how you feel about the work you are doing?

———————

A RESTORATIVE STEP:

Choose one thing you are working toward today.

For sixty seconds, set the desired outcome aside.

Ask,

"What is actually mine to do right now?"

Then give your full attention to only that.

Let the foundation be enough for today.

———————

Stay Connected:

🌐 DIVOWellness.com

📬 Subscribe to Newsletter

📍 DIVO Wellness — Greensboro, NC

🧡 DIVO Wellness — Movement is the Way
