Marketplaces became great at matching supply and demand and monetizing transactions. But high take rates are now creating conflict with drivers, suppliers, customers, and regulators. Drawing on Porto’s experience in urban mobility, I argue that the next generation of marketplaces will increasingly create value around the transaction — and eventually help create supply itself.
