**When was the last time you were excited about an album?**

It has been a while since I was truly excited about a record.

If you look at the recent releases previewed, most of them come from mature artists—which is telling in itself. Music simply isn't what it used to be. I understand age, experience, and evolving relatability, but it goes deeper than that: the raw energy and inspiration are gone. Today's music is manufactured purely for visibility and algorithm likes; it has no soul.

I went in looking for a masterpiece from** E-40**, but all I got was a resume check. **Dave East** never disappoints, but I wasn’t actively looking forward to Dave. 40's latest drop, while technically solid, was underwhelming to say the least.

Release days just hits differently now. Friday drops lack the anticipation of classic Tuesday drops—the ones designed to build momentum and get you ready for the weekend DJ sets in the club. There used to be a formula to the madness. Now, the entire thing feels mechanical: internet buzz, podcast snippets, radio interviews, syndication, and social media clips. There are no grand video premieres; tracks simply materialize on YouTube and DSP streaming platforms where we lease access instead of owning the culture.

Aside from DJs, nobody actually owns a physical copy anymore. There are no liner notes to study, no pinup posters to collect. The albums tell no cohesive story—just a disconnected series of tracks strung together for playlists.
