Our 50th Episode: The Power of Community in Motherhood

<p></p><p>FIFTY episodes of Silly Sheep! And what a better way to celebrate than by coming full circle?</p><p></p><p>Our very first episode was about community in motherhood-- because from the beginning, we've believed that moms were never meant to do this alone. Fifty episodes later, we're coming back to that same topic with a lot more life experience, a lot more lessons, and a deeper understanding of what it actually takes to build meaningful community.</p><p></p><p>In this episode, we talk about....</p><ul><li>why loneliness isn't evidence that something is wrong with you- its evidence that you were created for relationship</li><li>the difference between being social and being available</li><li>the very real ways motherhood can become a shield that keeps us from community</li><li>why we have less relational capacity than we often think- and why that's actually mercy</li><li>Jesus' example of having different levels of relationship and access</li><li>why life on life community is usually much more mundane than we imagine</li><li>the difference between hosting and simply inviting someone into your real life</li><li>why you need to build community before you need it</li><li>the three major barriers to community: culture, lies, and pain/shame</li><li>how comparison and social media can make us feel connected while actually leaving us more isolated</li><li>why a messy house, a busy season, or waiting for "later" might be keeping us from the relationships we desperately need</li><li>what our kids are learning about relationships by watching whether we open our doors and let people into our lives</li></ul><p></p><p>Because community isn't simply a personality trait or something that happens naturally for the most outgoing among us. Community is a discipline. Hebrews 10 calls us to consider one another, spur one another on, meet together, and encourage one another-- and every one of those things requires action.</p><p></p><p>*Community won't fix every lonely afternoon.
