Grace to Grace Part I

<p>He swore he&#39;d never touch it. Then he woke up one day smack in the middle of it.</p><p>This week Gina sits down with her oldest brother Troy for the half of the story where, as she puts it, the enemy thought he had won.</p><p>Troy got saved at Lawtey during a real revival. He surrendered to preach six months later and went off to Bible college. And then he slipped away quietly, still showing up to church the entire time, because his relationship with God had never gone past the surface. He says he could preach thirty minutes on Isaiah 43 and never have lived a line of it. So when the revival ended, he had nothing to stand on.</p><p>Divorce, isolation and depression pushed him toward the one drug that made him feel anything positive, and then toward suicidal thinking.</p><p>Gina tells her side too, and it&#39;s the part a lot of families will recognize. The day she and Ronnie broke a window because she was sure she&#39;d find him dead. The counselor who gave her a sentence she didn&#39;t want to hear: you&#39;re the problem, your family is enabling him, and you are not God. Her flesh rose up at that. Then the Holy Spirit asked which one she was going to cater to, her pride or the truth.</p><p>And then there&#39;s the prayer she carried quietly for years and never expected to say out loud.</p><p>It ends with Troy dropping everything he owned into a dumpster and walking into Set Free with one bag of clothes and a pillow.</p><p>&quot;Old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.&quot; 2 Corinthians 5:17</p><p><strong>In this episode:</strong></p><p>(02:44) I swore I&#39;d never do that.
