A Deep Space Prison Uses Crushing Gravity To Restrain Inmates. Tonight, They Break Out
Tartarus Station was designed so its prisoners would never need walls.
At the asteroid prison’s outer rim, spin-generated gravity holds maximum-security inmates beneath three times Earth’s weight, while surgical reinforcement keeps their bodies alive under the load. For night-shift warden Graves, the system has meant six years of quiet screens, routine reports, and problems that always seem to belong to someone higher up the chain.
Then the drive bearings seize.
As the station slows, gravity falls, dead equipment becomes useless, and men who have spent years unable to stand begin walking. But the prisoners are not simply escaping. They are taking control of power, water, communications, and the replacement parts that could restore the spin. Their price is not freedom. It is evidence.
With corporate help still hours away and his remaining guards trapped behind failing defenses, Graves must decide what he is actually responsible for: maintaining a prison, protecting his people, or preserving the system that created the emergency in the first place.
