am i responsible for what i say in my sleep?

recently gael has been sleep talking and um it's reaching a point. because on top of that, he's also been sleep walking and hitting. he must be stopped. anyways, it made us think... how much are we responsible for what we say or do in our sleep? like what if u accidentally share a secret... or say another person's name with ur lover next to u.. or u slap someone. how much of it is excusable because you're sleeping?
