89: Mayhem & Norwegian Black Metal - Outrageous

In 1984, a group of teenagers started a band called Mayhem, ushering in a new, darker evolution of Norwegian black metal. Born from a hatred of “humanity, life and happiness,” Mayhem attracted a fanatical fanbase - but it quickly spiralled out of control. In just a few short years, this bloodthirsty subculture escalated from internal power struggles to outright violence, leading to several murders, multiple imprisonments, and a string of now-infamous church burnings.
