Short Description:

The bill revises Missouri's ballot summary statutes by expanding allowable word limits and specifying procedures for preparing and reviewing ballot language. Like SB 22 which was invalidated by the Missouri Supreme Court, the bill addresses the roles of state officials and courts in drafting, certifying, and challenging ballot summaries,but it does not apply to referendums initiated by the people to challenge recently enacted laws.

Status of the Bill:

The Senate Committee on Judiciary and Civil and Criminal Jurisprudence met on April 8 and passed (5-1). Moving to Senate Floor Soon.
