80 Days Gone, 60 Votes Missed: Where Is Mitch McConnell? | 9/3/26
Rep. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has not been seen in public for 80+ days. The last real update from his office is almost a month old. He has missed 60 Senate votes — Iran war powers, housing, even the confirmation of a new attorney general — while Republicans hang onto a thin majority where every vote is supposed to matter. Pat starts with the question everybody is already asking: Where is Mitch? The Kentucky senator, 84, was rushed to the hospital on June 14. Dispatch audio said first responders treated someone in cardiac arrest and used CPR. Weeks later, his team said it was a fall, that he was briefly unconscious, that it was not a heart attack or a stroke, and that he had mild pneumonia. He left a rehab center on August 6. Since then: two old, smiling photos with Elaine Chao, staffers reading statements at Kentucky events he used to attend, security outside the D.C. townhouse, and no video, no call-in, no proof of life that would settle this. His office is not answering when he comes back on September 14.

Should a senator this silent still hold that vote? If your member of Congress disappeared for 80+ days, would you accept two photos and a staff apology?
