Jigger Johnson 100 Mile NEW Course Records with Conor Brown and Lexi Jackson

Jigger Johnson 100 Mile NEW Course Records with Conor Brown and Lexi Jackson23 aug1 u 51 min

This week I sat down with Lexi Jackson and Conor Brown, the new course record holders from the Jigger Johnson 100 miler. Lexi smashed the women's course record by four and a half hours, finishing in 33:12, and Conor took first place overall in 29:41, beating the previous men's course record by over 40 minutes. We talked about how they were feeling leading up to the race, their training builds, and why they wanted to sign up for one of the toughest 100 milers in the Northeast. They both broke down their race's section by section. Everything from dealing with the trail bees on Tecumseh, battling through bad stomach issues early and often, and saving the race?/navigating an unexpected situation on Bear Notch Road where a cop almost canceled the race mid way through, the hardest section (Table, Attitash, Moats out and back), Tremont for a second time, Hancock Notch, and the last stretch to the finish where they each hammered. We talked about their awesome pacers, footwear choices, how grabbing the course records felt and Conor getting featured on Dylan Bowman's Freetrail podcast Strava File of the Week. We also heard from Lexi on and how the Jigger Johnson 100 compares to the White Mountains 100. I believe she is the only person to finish both. This episode was epic, and I'm pumped they both were excited to do it just days after their finishes.

HOW TO FIND LEXI AND CONOR:

https://fastestknowntime.com/athlete/lexi-jackson

https://ultrasignup.com/m_results_participant.aspx?fname=Lexi&lname=Jackson

https://www.instagram.com/conorbrwn/

https://strava.app.link/jwlLR9yWZHb

I've tried a lot of different trail running gear over the years and have refined my ideal kit for the mountains. Its a high stack height but I like that for running fast down steep descents. The Speedgoat 7 is my favorite version so far. It's lighter, and slightly reduced stack from the old version and I have been loving it.

La Sportiva Prodigio Pro: rei.pxf.io/0GB7gP OR https://amzn.to/3T1u0Qi

My top pick for a super shoe in technical terrain. Light, fast, and has really good grip. Mid tier stack so fairly stable but also has some cush to absorb downhill impact. These shoes want to go.

Saucony Endorphin Speed 5: rei.pxf.io/6kR90V OR https://amzn.to/4wGHWh5

One of my favorite pair of road trainers. An uptempo, fast shoe which I use on my road runs to work on turnover and speed.

⛰️ESSENTIAL TRAIL RUNNING GEAR:

GPS Watch: rei.pxf.io/VOjena OR https://amzn.to/4wT0bQq

In my experience, Garmin has the best GPS accuracy in thick, dense forest in the Northeast. I trust the mileage and vert data from Garmin over any other watch.

Running Vest: rei.pxf.io/zzD3We
