The Call To Courage

Few people and leaders have been forced to face change to the degree that Joshua and the children of Israel faced change. They had waited for forty years to get into the land that God had promised them, and now they stood on the edge.

Moses had died and Joshua was their leader. They had wandered but now they would settle down. Even the the landscape around them would be different. Added to all of this, there were giants in the land.

God spoke the words they needed to hear. Three times in these verses they are told to “Be strong and courageous. As I was with Moses, I will be with you. Don’t be afraid!”

God’s purpose had not changed.

God’s promise had not changed.

God’s presence had not changed.

God’s precepts had not changed.

God’s people had not changed.

These truths remain for us today. “Be strong and have courage.”
