הענין שח"י אלול הוא יום ההולדת של הבעש"ט ואדמו"ר הזקן – נתפרסם ע"י כ"ק מו"ח אדמו"ר נשיא הדור, שענינו – להשפיע על בני דורו ובאופן של ("נשיא" מלשון) "התנשאות" – לאחרי שהאדם עובד עבודתו ככל יכלתו, הרי נשיא הדור, שהוא ה"משה" שבדור ה"עומד בין ה' וביניכם", מגביה ומרומם אותו בדרך "אתערותא דלעילא" שעי"ז ניתוסף בעבודתו כהנה וכהנה; גם לאחרי ה"עלי'" והשלימות בדורו של הבעש"ט ובדורות שלאח"ז – נפעל בזה "לאחרי זה" (בזמן) "התנשאות" עוד יותר. זה שנשיא הדור צוה לפרסם ענינו של ח"י אלול מוכיח – ש"מעיינות" הבעש"ט ואדה"ז שייכות כעת לכל הדור, ובאופן ש"יפוצו", ה"מעיינות" עצמן, "חוצה"; הובטחנו שסוף כל סוף "בל ידח ממנו נדח", אבל בנ"י, "עם חכם ונבון", בודאי לא יחכו עד אז לקיים הנדרש מהם, אלא בידעם שזהו ענין טוב ומטרת בריאתם – יקיימו זאת בשמחה ובטוב לבב, ובמיוחד בחודש אלול ש"המלך בשדה" ומקבל את כולם ב"פנים שוחקות" וכו'.

Synopsis

The role of a Nasi is to uplift his generation (“השתנשאות”) meaning, after the people of the generation have accomplished what they can on their own, the Nasi uplifts to an even higher level. Therefore, because the Nasi of our generation publicized the fact that Chai Elul is the birthday of the Baal Shem Tov and the Alter Rebbe (who were both Nesi’im) it is clear that their teachings are relevant for the entire generation, in such a way that the wellsprings themselves spread outward. While it is true that ultimately “None will remain banished from Him,” nevertheless, since the Jewish people are “a wise and understanding people,” they surely will not wait until that time to do what is required of them. Rather, because they know it is something positive and that this is the purpose of their creation, they will do it with joy and gladness of heart – especially in the month of Elul, when the King is in the field and when He receives them all with a pleasant countenance etc.
