יש לספק צרכי החגים דחודש תשרי לכל הנצרכים, החל מר"ה ע"פ מ"ש בקשר לר"ה "אכלו משמנים ושתו ממתקים ושלחו מנות לאשר אין לו". וכדי שזה לא יהי' באופן ד"דקדירא דבי שותפי", ה"ז לכל לראש שייך לרבני המקום ומנהיגי הקהל. ולהתחיל בזה מיד, כך שכבר בערב ר"ה יהיו לכולם את מה שצריך, ועאכו"כ ב"זמן שמחתנו"; התחלת אמירת הסליחות היא "לך הוי' הצדקה", ובתור הכנה לזה יש להתעסק בענין הצדקה, ואז יקויים מ"ש "טרם יקראו ואני אענה", והולכים לאמירת הסליחות בשמחה, וכידוע הסיפור שפעם בליובאוויטש התוועדו חסידים במוצאי שבת סליחות והלכו לסליחות באופן "אַז מ'האָט זיך געשאָקלט" (וע"ד מ"ש בגמ' שההכנה ללימוד התורה באופן ד"שפתותיו נוטפות מר" היא הענין ד"מילתא דבדיחותא"), ועד"ז כללות הכנה לימים הנוראים היא מתוך שמחה גדולה, עאכו"כ לשמח אחרים ע"י סיפוק צרכי החג.

Synopsis

Those in need should be provided with all their Tishrei needs beginning with Rosh Hashanah, as the verse says in connection with Rosh Hashanah, “…eat fat foods and drink sweet drinks and send portions to those who have nothing prepared.” To avoid the problem of a “pot belonging to partners” (where responsibility is neglected because each relies on the other), the responsibility lies first and foremost upon the local Rabbonim and community leaders; efforts should begin immediately so that by Erev Rosh Hashanah everyone will have all they need, and all the more so for the Time of Our Rejoicing. The opening words of Selichos are, “Yours, Hashem, is the tzedakah.” Similarly, the way to prepare for Selichos is through tzedakah, and then the verse will be fulfilled, “Before they call out, I will answer,” so that one can proceed to Selichos with joy, like the well-known story of Chassidim in Lubavitch who came to Selichos “swaying” after farbrenging for hours. (It is similar to the teaching in the Gemara that the proper way to prepare for Torah study in such a way that one’s “lips drip with bitterness” is to begin by saying something humorous.) Similarly, the overall preparation for the Days of Awe should be carried out with great joy, all the more so by bringing joy to others by providing for their Yom Tov needs.
