EP 528 | The August Whitetail Checklist
August is when the real work for November begins.
In this episode of The Fall Podcast, I’m breaking down everything I’m doing right now to get ready for whitetail season. From deploying Moultrie trail cameras and glassing fields from the truck in the evenings to trying to track down two bucks I’m pretty sure survived last season, August is all about gathering information and getting prepared.
I’m also putting in a 2-acre Vitalize food plot, fine-tuning my bow and arrow setup, testing broadheads, and putting plenty of arrows downrange. This is the time of year to find out if your equipment is truly ready—not when a mature buck is standing at 20 yards.
We’ll also get into the less exciting but equally important preparation: washing and organizing my hunting camo, storing it with earth scent wafers, dialing in my hunting pack, and setting up the Flyer Pack as my self-filming pack for the upcoming season.
And there’s still plenty of work to do in the woods, including prepping trees, clearing shooting lanes, and setting up ambush locations with November in mind.
The season may still be weeks away, but the preparation is already underway. If you want to be ready when opening day finally arrives, August is the time to start putting in the work.
