Funeral director Miriam Ashby has worked at the old Greenwood Funeral Home in Pella for ten years. She's handled hundreds of viewings, but nothing like the evening of October 17th. A man named Paul Whittaker died of a heart attack at sixty-three. Quiet. Ordinary. No family to speak of. During the final preparation, Miriam found a slip of paper tucked inside the casket lining. The handwriting matched Paul's. The message was simple: 'I know what you did. I'll be watching.' Miriam thought it was a joke, or maybe a goodbye from a paranoid man. She left it in the casket.
