An award-winning theologian and author, he has written or edited more than fifteen books, including "<em>You're Only Human</em>," winner of the <em>Christianity Today</em> 2023 Book of the Year Award (Theology, Popular). His other notable works include "<em>Embodied Hope"</em>, "<em>A Little Book for New Theologians"</em>, "<em>You Were Never Meant to Do It All: A 40-Day Devotional on the Goodness of Being Human"</em>, and "<em>Becoming Whole: Why the Opposite of Poverty Isn't the American Dream"</em> (co-authored with Brian Fikkert).
