NIL Under Pressure: Agents, Regulations, and Federal Power
Recent changes surrounding NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) deals and athlete representation are creating new standards for how student-athletes can enter into NIL agreements and how agents can enter the profession. The goal is to provide greater transparency an accountability. At the same time, there is a growing push toward a more federal approach to NIL regulation, which could create consistent rules across all states instead of having athletes and agents navigate different state laws.
I’ll look at whether these changes truly protect athletes—or give more control to the system behind the deals.
