A 2004 Northwestern University graduate, he earned his law degree from Harvard Law School and practiced in Chicago and Washington, D.C., before moving into public service. Over his political career, he worked across multiple levels of government — including serving as chief of staff to a U.S. senator — and held private-sector roles spanning trade-association advocacy and an early stint at the fintech startup Robinhood.
