Why is there something rather than nothing?
Why is there something rather than nothing? In this episode of The Vancrux Podcast, we tackle one of the biggest questions in philosophy: why does anything exist at all? Is “nothing” actually possible, or is it an idea our minds have created because we cannot truly imagine absolute nothingness? We explore the arguments of Leibniz, Spinoza, Wittgenstein, Heidegger, Sartre, Hawking, Krauss, Tegmark, Wheeler and others, asking whether the universe requires a cause, whether existence is necessary, whether the multiverse actually explains anything, and whether mathematics, God, randomness or physics could provide the answer. Perhaps the universe created itself. Perhaps existence has always been inevitable. Or perhaps the question itself is flawed. Why is there something rather than nothing—and was nothing ever really possible?
