Airplane Fingers

Engineers studying bird flight examined vultures to improve aircraft wing efficiency. They found that finger-like feather arrangements at the wing tips reduce turbulence and inspired new wing designs. Experimental models achieved significantly greater aerodynamic efficiency than conventional approaches.
