Cloudy Skies and St Peters Delays
Wake Up Sydney is back for Wednesday, 9 September 2026, with Johnny Rocket bringing you a breezy midweek update on the city’s weather, traffic and trains.
Sydney is waking to partly cloudy skies, with winds expected to pick up later in the day. The CBD starts at 10.8°C on the way to 20°C, Parramatta begins at 9.7°C and also reaches 20°C, while Bondi sits at 12.2°C, heading for a top of 18°C with stronger coastal winds likely. Bring a jacket, and keep a firm grip on hats, hair and lightweight bags.
On the roads, drivers travelling north from the south should take care on the Princes Highway at St Peters, just past Canal Road, where a two-car crash has closed one of three northbound lanes. Transport for NSW is on site, and motorists are urged to slow down, allow extra time and merge carefully. Elsewhere across Sydney, traffic is moving fairly smoothly.
For train commuters, the Sydney network is mostly running well, with only minor announcement issues reported. Next train announcements are unavailable on all platforms at Gosford and on platforms 1 and 2 at St Marys. Passengers should check platform screens and transport apps for the latest service updates.
Tune in to Wake Up Sydney for the essentials you need before stepping out the door.
