Wake Up Sydney: Monday Weather, Traffic and Trains Update

Sydney wakes to a cool and showery start this Monday, 7 September 2026. The CBD is sitting at 13.8°C on the way to 22°C, Parramatta starts at 12.3°C heading for 24°C, and Bondi is at 15.5°C with a top of 21°C. Expect a shower or two across the city, with light winds turning gusty southerly later in the day. UV is moderate, strongest between about 9:20am and 2:20pm.

On the roads, commuters should allow extra time through Darlinghurst, where a two-car crash in the Eastern Distributor tunnel southbound near the Bondi exit has closed one lane. The speed limit has been reduced to 40km/h, so expect delays through the area.

Train passengers are also facing a disrupted morning after an earlier police operation at Turrella. T8 Airport and South Line services have resumed, but delays and service gaps are expected through the morning peak. Some services from Central and Macarthur may be diverted via the T2 or T3 lines.

T2 Leppington and Inner West Line passengers should also allow extra travel time and keep an eye on station screens, announcements, and transport apps for any platform or stopping pattern changes.
