Sunny Father’s Day Travel Update

Wake Up Sydney brings you the essential Sunday, 6 September 2026 Father’s Day update on weather, traffic and trains across Sydney.

It’s a bright and sunny start to the day, with milder conditions following yesterday’s heat and wind. The Sydney CBD begins at 15.5°C and is heading for a top of 23°C, Parramatta starts at 15.3°C and also reaches 23°C, while Bondi is sitting at 16.3°C with a forecast top of 22°C. It’s ideal weather for harbour walks, picnics and Father’s Day outings.

On the roads, drivers should watch for weather-related disruptions. In Guildford, a fallen tree and damaged power lines have closed two northbound lanes on Woodville Road at Henry Street, with no access into Henry Street from Woodville Road. In Blacktown, Balmoral Street is closed between Alpha Street and Newton Road due to wires down, with flashing yellow lights at Alpha and Balmoral. In Wallacia, Park Road is closed between James Street and William Street after a crash, so allow extra time and use alternative routes.

Public transport is also heavily affected this morning. The Eastern Suburbs and Illawarra Line is running reduced services between Central and Bondi Junction due to earlier urgent repairs, while extensive trackwork means buses are replacing trains across several sections, including between Dapto, Port Kembla and Central, and between Cronulla, Waterfall and Central.

On the T8 Airport and South Line, buses replace trains between Sydenham and Central. Metro services are not running between Tallawong and Sydenham, with replacement buses operating only between Tallawong and Chatswood. Western Line passengers should also note some City-to-Penrith services are skipping Wentworthville, Pendle Hill and Toongabbie between 7am and 9am.
