Bucks and Ducks: Finding the X | Early Season Patterns
Hunting season is finally here, and early September gives us one of the biggest advantages we’ll have all fall: predictability.
In the first Bucks & Ducks episode of the season, we’re talking about finding the X for both geese and whitetails.
For geese, that means figuring out the full pattern. Where are they roosting? Where are they feeding? What flight lines are they using? Where are they loafing during the day? Seeing birds in a field is one thing. Understanding why they’re there and where they’re going next is another.
Then we switch over to September bucks and break down bedding, water, food sources, staging areas, ag fields, and what our trail cameras are actually telling us. Are you learning what a buck is doing, or are you just collecting pictures of him?
Early season patterns can make animals feel predictable, but they don’t last forever. Crops come out, acorns drop, temperatures change, pressure increases, bachelor groups break up, and migration starts changing the waterfowl game.
The question is, can you find the X and make your move before the pattern changes?
