Josh Sigurdson talks with Mark Gonzales about the incoming bank failures and the FDIC's plans for bail-ins and bankruptcies.

In November of 2022 as we had reported at the time, the FDIC had a meeting which the minutes of were made public online. In the meeting they spoke of banks eventually closing on the Friday, major banks going under and the fact that they had no money to help failed banks. They acknowledged that they themselves were bankrupt. They also spoke of no more reserve requirements.

After Dodd-Frank in 2010, bail-ins were made legally applicable following the very unpopular bailouts following the 2008/2009 crisis.

In September of 2024, Basel III was implemented at 63 central banks allowing them to do bail-ins.

Another 63 big banks were reported to be close to failure with lineups of people attempting to get their money out.

Now this story is back in the news and going viral years later and it's never been more concerning considering the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and the recent news by a federal judge that the FDIC does not have to pay their parent company $1.7 billion.
