How to Stop Letting Fear Block Your Creative Calling with Laurel Brooke
What if the thing you keep avoiding is actually the thing you’re here to do?
In this episode of Your Radiant Spirit, I’m joined by Laurel Brooke, a writer, storyteller, and guide who helps people reconnect with their creativity, deeper calling, and the stories they’re living.
Laurel spent much of her life knowing she wanted to become a published author—but fear, self-doubt, practical responsibilities, and what she describes as resistance kept getting in the way. After a series of profound experiences, she committed to finally pursue the book she had always dreamed of writing.
That decision opened the door to a fascinating journey through Arthurian legend, Celtic mythology, sacred storytelling, creativity, nervous system regulation, and the question of what it really means to follow your calling.
We talk about why creative blocks aren't always about a lack of ideas—and how sometimes our nervous system can interpret being seen, creating, or pursuing our dreams as a threat.
Laurel shares the simple practices she uses to help her body feel safe enough to create, including her Sovereign Breath meditation, and how learning to recognize fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses changed her relationship with writing.
We also explore the stories we inherit—and the stories we choose to live.
Because the myths, archetypes, books, movies, and narratives surrounding us can quietly influence how we understand ourselves, our relationships, our purpose, and what's possible for our lives.
And perhaps most importantly, we talk about something every creative person eventually has to face:
Can you give yourself permission to do the thing you already know you’re called to do?
In this episode, we explore:
Why creative blocks can sometimes be connected to fear and the nervous system
