Previewing UCLA vs. Cal, Talking Tim Harris
In this edition of the BROCast, Dave and Tracy extensively preview the UCLA vs. California game and then talk about the expected impact of Tim Harris as UCLA's new CEO of athletics.
We broke down both sides of the matchup between UCLA football and Cal, emphasizing the advantage UCLA has on the offensive side, and the potential advantage Cal has with its own offense. But then we noted that the major difference between these two teams is the coaching difference, with UCLA having major continuity between head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator, and Cal having first-time coaches at all three of those positions.
Ultimately, we both leaned toward a narrow UCLA win.
We then talked a bit more about the Martin Jarmond firing, and why it made sense to fire him at this juncture, given the financial mismanagement and his own lack of vision for getting UCLA out of this mess. We then discussed Tim Harris and why he's a good fit for the job. We also gave Julio Frenk his flowers for getting this done.
