Brad Cummings on the Ten Words: “How does God create? He speaks. He speaks words. Those words, if coming from Him, are spirit and life.”

WHAT THIS EPISODE COVERS

Brad Cummings joins Scott Kesterson to continue the series on the Ten Words, the Hebrew name for what English Bibles call the Ten Commandments. Brad asks whether God’s words at Sinai were meant to create life in us, the way His spoken words created the world, instead of handing down orders. They look at why Israel asked Moses to stand between them and God, how that same pattern shows up in the golden calf, and what Jesus asked of the rich young ruler.

KEY QUESTIONS ADDRESSED

What changes when we read the Ten Commandments as the Ten Words of a God who speaks life?

Why did Israel ask Moses to speak with God for them, and what did that cost?

What does the golden calf show about asking someone else to stand between us and God?
