[Episode 40] This month, barSILENCE is powersliding through the iconic, energetic, and incredibly fun soundtracks to the console Mario Kart games.

The Mario Kart series hit the track in 1992 and has remained one of Nintendo’s most iconic and best-selling franchises. Whether it was the leap into 3D with Mario Kart 64, the two-character strategy of Double Dash!!, or Mario Kart Wii’s motion controls and online multiplayer, each entry introduced new ways to race while keeping the spirit of the series intact.

In this Grand Prix-style tour through the first four console games, we’re racing through favorites like Koopa Beach and Mario Circuit (Super Mario Kart), Toad’s Turnpike and Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 64), Peach Beach and Sherbet Land (Double Dash!!), and Coconut Mall and Daisy Circuit (Mario Kart Wii).
