During a recent School of the Prophets session at the Interchurch Holiness Convention (IHC), Pastor James Plank made some interesting comments about the people attending his church, distinguishing between those he considers "conservative" and those he describes as "worldly."

But that raises an important question: Does someone become worldly simply because they don't conform to the outward standards or traditions of a particular church?

In this episode of Beyond the Vow, we take a closer look at Plank's remarks and examine the difference between biblical holiness and the expectations often associated with conservative church culture.

We aren't questioning the importance of holiness, nor are we suggesting that Christians shouldn't have personal convictions or standards. Rather, we're challenging the practice of using those standards as the basis for determining another believer's spiritual condition.

Is worldliness defined by Scripture, or have we allowed our traditions and preferences to influence how we judge others?

Join us as we discuss these questions, examine what the Bible actually teaches, and consider whether our understanding of holiness always reflects the heart of Scripture.

Holiness matters. But so does how we define it.
