Axe Bomber Podcast #006 - The Groovy Babies

Andrew Balaz and Greg DeMarco discuss Brian Cage vs. Tessa Blanchard, Zilla Fatu, Ilja Dragunov, AEW, MLW, TNA and more on the latest Axe Bomber!

Greg DeMarco and Andrew Balaz are back for Episode 6 of the Axe Bomber Podcast, and this week the show lives up to its title by bouncing through wrestling history, current TV, Match of the Week, and more than a few detours along the way.

The episode opens with a Roman Reigns-inspired wedding entrance video and Greg sharing the story of officiating a wedding between two wrestlers. From there, the conversation moves into this week’s Match of the Week: Tessa Blanchard vs. Brian Cage from WrestleCircus.

Greg and Andrew revisit the match’s size-difference story, the way the crowd bought into Tessa’s counters, and whether the match still holds up years later. That leads into a broader discussion of Brian Cage’s career, as well as the paths taken by names like Jeff Cobb and Hammerstone. Greg also looks back at his time working as a local promoter for Ring of Honor’s WrestleMania weekend events in Phoenix.

After the break, the show turns to current wrestling. Greg and Andrew discuss Davis and Doyle beating the Young Bucks, the latest Sami Zayn and Roman Reigns promo, and Ilja Dragunov’s AEW debut. They also question MLW’s confusing build toward its Super Fight pay-per-view and whether some of the promotion’s storytelling is arriving out of sequence.

This week’s NXT Spotlight focuses on Zilla Fatu. Greg remains cautious on the Bloodline connection and whether WWE should rush him, while Andrew weighs in on what kind of presentation could best help him develop.

The episode also checks in on TNA Impact, including the evolving women’s tag division, Shotzi’s role, and the direction toward Destination X.

As always, the show closes with next week’s Match of the Week. This time, Greg and Andrew head to Japan for Shane Haste vs. Tetsuya Naito.
