Counter Culture - Audience of One (Thessalonians 2, Eric Fridge)

<p>Most of us spend more energy managing what others think of us than we realize, and it is quietly exhausting. In 1 Thessalonians 2, the Apostle Paul gives us a clear picture of what it looks like to stop living for the approval of others. After being beaten, imprisoned, and run out of multiple cities, Paul continued preaching with boldness, not because he was fearless, but because his dependence on God had outgrown his fear of people. He asked one simple question that changed everything: who is my audience? When you commit to living for an audience of one, the pressure of managing every performance for every person begins to lift. Freedom from people-pleasing does not come from caring less about others. It comes from caring more about what God thinks than what anyone else does. And what He thinks of you has already been made clear at the cross.</p>
