James 2:14–23

BIG IDEA: REAL FAITH MOVES FROM BELIEF TO ACTION.

Faith — pistis = trust, confidence, belief.

Works — erga = deeds, actions, what we actually do.

Dead — nekra = lifeless, inactive, unresponsive.

James is not saying works save us. He is saying that genuine faith becomes visible through action.

James 2:18 — “Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.”

At some point, what we believe has to change what we do.

FEAR CAN STOP FAITH FROM BECOMING ACTIONFear is real and sometimes legitimate.

“Fear is a great warning system. It is a terrible Lord.”

Faith does not mean the absence of fear.
