The resentment and betrayal Joseph receives from his brothers is painful to see, and sadly all too familiar. The story uncovers the sobering truth that betrayal often comes unexpectedly from those who are closest to us. Lest we despair, the story also ensures that God’s providential hand can work even through the most hurtful betrayal to bring about God’s good purposes.
