Zelenskyy visits Alberta; Trump bribery accusations; Goodness of Gander

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has made a surprise visit to Canada. He and Prime Minister Mark Carney met in Calgary, and Heather Yourex-West reports on the strategic and defence partnership the pair struck.

Carney is also holding a cabinet retreat in Banff. That's where Jeff Semple is, and he'll tell you how Carney is facing persistent questions about U.S. President Donald Trump's latest threat of tariffs and import bans.

Trump, in the meantime, is at the Republican National Convention, where he's being accused of bribery. Jackson Proskow reports from Dallas about the cash Trump is promising every American adult -- if his party wins the midterm elections.

The Newfoundland and Labrador town of Gander became a safe haven as it welcomed thousands of travellers who became stranded after their flights were diverted on Sept. 11, 2001. Heidi Petracek met up with some people in Gander who were there that day.
