Your health and fitness decisions are personal

Your health and fitness decisions are personal30. Sept.13 Min.

In this short episode I discuss how your health and fitness decisions are personal and in turn when seeking help / guidance from a professional in either public or private sectors, it's imperative you gauge if he or she is the right fit for you.

My advice as a professional personal trainer and sports massage therapist is to ideally go by a trusted referral or at the very least, good online reviews.

If you have neither of the above, then meet the trainer or therapist in person, for a consultation, prior to commencing any exercise or remedial services offered.

Use you eyes, ears and intuition to assist in your decision making, for example, if a personal trainer is visually overweight, or carrying unhealthy levels of excess bodyfat, it's probably ill advised to enlist / pay the trainer in question, as he or she clearly doesn't prioritize their own health and fitness, irrespective of any formal education and qualifications.

Likewise, with the increasing number of mental health counsellors, setting up shops across the country, of which often the counsellor is visibly unhealthy, with obesity related complications, poor diet, smoking and vaping addictions, again it's likely you won't benefit from advice given, as he or she is in a state of physiological decline.

Take your time when choosing any help, advice and treatments, from all professionals and don't be afraid to simply say no thank you (politely of course) and look elsewhere.
