DR JENI HAYNES: How Her 2,681 Personalities Helped Her Find Justice

Dissociative Identity Disorder (formerly Multiple Personality Disorder) has long been misrepresented and misunderstood, but Dr Jeni Haynes is here to change that. In 2019, she made international headlines when she testified against her father, who was the perpetrator of years of sexual, physical and psychological abuse upon her. It was the first time in the Australian legal system to accept testimony from alters within a person living with DID was accepted as evidence in a criminal prosecution. Since her landmark case, Jeni has co-authored a memoir, and is the subject of a new feature-length documentary 'We Are Jeni'. Abbie sits down with Dr Jeni to discuss why she still identifies with the term MPD (but disagrees with the disorder part), how her alters make decisions, and her journey from not being believed to finding justice.
