She Went Viral Two Days After Almost Dying at Sea...
Quinn Abigail grew up on a farm in rural Pennsylvania as the oldest of six kids, and now lives a fully nomadic lifestyle between sailboats and a backpack. In the last few years she's lived off grid in Hawaii, worked as an underwater photographer for a dolphin tour company, sailed from Hawaii to Fiji, spent almost 10 months backpacking through Southeast Asia, and built her own group trip company, Outer Current Club, from scratch.
If you've ever watched someone's "living on a sailboat" content and thought it looked dreamy and relaxing, this episode is going to change your mind.
In this episode, Quinn talks about how she ended up living on a sailboat in Hawaii with basically no plan, no shower, and no real idea what she was doing, and how a "simple" inter-island delivery with a friend turned into nine days she still can't fully believe she survived. She gets honest about what it actually costs to live that lifestyle, the parts nobody posts about, and the moment two days later that changed her life in a completely different way. We also get into her 23-day sail from Hawaii to Fiji, what it's really like to be on watch alone at 4am in the middle of the Pacific, and the wild string of "right place, right time" moments that got her there in the first place.
Quinn also opens up about going viral, what it's actually like to build an audience while living out of a backpack, the pressure and the hate comments that come with it, and why she eventually walked away from hosting trips through a big travel platform to build Outer Current Club on her own terms. We talk backpacking through Southeast Asia, a trek in Nepal she'll never forget, meeting her boyfriend in the most random way possible, and what this whole chapter of her life has taught her about success, trust, and letting go of the plan.
This one has it all: the beautiful parts, the terrifying parts, and the parts that are honestly just really funny. Let's dive in!
