Finding God, Your Purpose & the Divine Path | Allan Stott | Living Good Podcast #0557. Sept.2 Std. 03 Min.

What if some of the hardest experiences of your life aren't evidence that you're on the wrong path—but part of what is shaping you for the person you're supposed to become?

In Episode 55 of the Living Good with Jakeb Livengood Podcast, I'm joined by Allan Stott for a deep two-hour conversation about God, purpose, consciousness, authenticity, suffering, relationships, meditation, psychedelics, spiritual awakening, and learning to recognize divine direction.

Allan and I originally met while meditating in the same community, which turned into a four-and-a-half-hour conversation about life and spirituality. After not seeing each other for roughly a year and a half, we sat down to continue that conversation.

We explore the idea that painful seasons can become stepping stones rather than setbacks, and how changing the lens through which you interpret suffering can move you away from victimhood and toward growth.

Allan opens up about childhood epilepsy and trauma, isolation, relationships, meditation, psychedelic experiences, finding his heart, and his evolving relationship with Christ. We also explore free will, what we describe as a “divine timeline,” subconscious programming, ego, intuition, spiritual discernment, and what it means to live authentically.

One of the central ideas of the conversation is simple:

You don't always have to convince people of what you believe. Become the light—and allow your life to demonstrate it.

Allan describes this through the metaphor of the “lower lights”: becoming a source of love and direction for someone who may not yet be ready to receive the message directly.

Later, the conversation becomes more personal as we work through Allan's men's-group framework. I share the tension between having my biggest month ever financially while simultaneously struggling with loneliness, delayed gratification, relationships, and trusting God's timing.

We also discuss why taking imperfect action matters more than endlessly thinking about the perfect action. I reflect on waiting nearly a decade to begin motovlogging and the gap between everything we know and everything we actually execute.

Allan closes with perhaps the simplest lesson of the entire conversation:

Rest.

Not because ambition is wrong, but because periods of stillness give us the opportunity to recalibrate, integrate what we've learned, and make sure all of our effort is actually moving us toward the person we're called to become.

This conversation explores personal spiritual beliefs and experiences, including psychedelics. These discussions reflect the speakers' individual perspectives and experiences rather than medical or theological advice.

🎙️ Living Good with Jakeb Livengood

Faith • Business • Personal Development • Fitness • Meaningful Conversations

Living for a Living.

00:00 — Welcome to Living Good
02:00 — Everything Happens for Your Benefit
05:30 — Marriage, Isolation & Finding Yourself
10:00 — Soul Contracts, Free Will & the Divine Timeline
15:30 — Finding Your Purpose
18:00 — Childhood Trauma, Epilepsy & Psychedelics
25:00 — Christ, Consciousness & Living From the Heart
33:00 — Reprogramming Your Mind & Living in Gratitude
39:00 — Spiritual Psychosis & the God Complex
44:00 — The Homeless Man Who Gave Alan a Gift
50:00 — How to Be a Light for Other People
57:00 — Divine Inspiration & Learning to Listen
1:03:00 — Why We Keep Repeating the Same Lessons
<strong
