24-Team College Football Playoff — But Only ONE Group of Six Bid?! | Sun Belt Podcast

College football faces a seismic shift as a new 24-team playoff is set to launch—with just one Group of Six (G6) bid up for grabs.

Is this expanded format opening opportunities, or slamming the door on underdog dreams? The conversation focused on the ripple effects for teams like JMU, Tulane, Boise State, and Memphis, especially with new qualification hurdles that favor Power Four programs.

A key theme that emerged was the dominance of money over competition, as TV networks and conferences chase record profits while G6 teams risk being sidelined to a less-glamorous playoff.

The discussion explored potential legal challenges, possible pushback from conference leaders like Tim Pernetti and Keith Gill, and the dramatic impact on school exposure and enrollment.

Plus, rapid-fire previews highlight pivotal Sun Belt Conference matchups: Appalachian State vs. Coastal Carolina, the Cajuns hosting Troy, and JMU’s crucial clash with Georgia State.
