Episode 847: Waterfowl Survey Results, Duck Hybridization & Do Hunters Truly Impact Duck Numbers?

The USFWS recently released the findings from the 2026 annual waterfowl survey. Our old friend Dr. Mike Brasher (Ducks Unlimited Chief Waterfowl Scientist) makes his return to discuss the results and they mean for ducks and duck hunters alike for the foreseeable future. Mike and I have developed a solid report over the years, so get ready for a few laughs along the way. Highlights include:

* – An upcoming redfish trip

* – A couple of interesting waterfowl mounts

* – duck hybridization (it’s pretty rapey to be honest)

* – How DU members can participate in the Duck DNA program

* – Is the male of the physically larger species always responsible?

* – Where does penis size fit into the equation?

* – Jumping tanks and Brewers Ducks

* – Breaking down the Waterfowl Survey results

* – What does it mean for mallards?

* – Hollywoods on the rise

* – Will we get our extra weekend of early teal season back?
