Billionaires Are LOOTING the Economy, VANDALIZING Democracy | Luke Thomas Gets Political

Luke Thomas: Gavin Newsom helped pressure California into a settlement on the Paramount Warner Bros merger, and Luke Thomas breaks down why the deal is a sellout, why the fine print is nearly worthless, and why a company just threatened its way out of antitrust enforcement. A viewer who is done with Newsom over Gaza, Medicare for All, and a week of pro-union vetoes gets Luke's full answer.Luke starts by addressing the accusation that he is a hardcore Democrat. He is not. There is nothing in the party's DNA committed to battle except defending Israel, and the California Democratic Party is the most impotent of all. Twelve attorneys general won a TRO, a judge called their arguments compelling, and then David Ellison leaked that Paramount would move to Nashville. Becerra, Karen Bass, and Newsom all publicly pushed for a deal, and Rob Bonta delivered one. What is actually in that deal? A theatrical release quota that can be met with old movies, a combined company agreeing to make fewer films than the two made separately, and a force majeure clause that voids everything in a recession or a strike. Luke walks through each piece and then zooms out to the bigger problem: an age of vandals and looters who rewrite the rules with billions of dollars while everyone is told to panic about farmworkers and high school swimmers.Listen to the full conversation over on Luke's Substack: https://lthomas.substack.com/Luke Thomas Gets Political is a YouTube channel, a Substack, and a podcast.
