Mom Charged with Murder After Shooting Hiding Intruder

A Tennessee mother named Kendra Scott faces first-degree murder and weapons charges after fatally shooting Rodderius Morton, a man she discovered hiding under a child's bed. Authorities arrived at the Memphis residence on July 16 and found the victim unresponsive in the front yard with a fatal head wound. Investigators learned that a juvenile relative had secretly invited the victim inside prior to the mother returning home and expressing rage. While a neighbor witnessed the suspect openly admit to the shooting with a firearm in hand, the defense attorney argues the chaotic situation stemmed from a parental nightmare. Currently being held without bond, the accused is scheduled for an upcoming court arraignment to address the deadly confrontation.
